Matthew “Ty” Wiseman, D.C. (Florida, ’13) and his wife, Allisun Wiseman, D.C. (Florida, ’14) met at a Palmer holiday party in 2012. They were married soon after and in 2014 they opened their practice together in Columbia, South Carolina.
In their family practice, they see an average of 140 patients per week. They keep it Southern-style in their practice; laid back and friendly. “It makes me feel good to know I’m helping the people with whom my kids interact within the community,” he said. “I’m proud to say we’re starting our seventh year in business!”
After seven years, Dr. Ty has a lot to be proud of.
“I get to provide a safer, non-addictive way to help with pain,“ he says, “which was a big draw to this profession in the first place and I have my sister, who is a physical therapist, to thank for that.”
Dr. Ty is also proud to have hired not one but two chiropractic assistants who were so inspired by his work and this field that they ended up following in his footsteps and enrolled at Palmer Florida. The only downside is that he has to keep finding new assistants!
His advice to prospective students is to practice the “Palmer Package” and shadow as many chiropractors as possible because there are so many ways to run a practice.
“Without a doubt, Palmer WILL prepare you for the real world. The rigorous curriculum, how to be licensed in all 50 states, passing the national boards and so on. This is a profession that will always be needed — you will always be needed — and that is priceless,” said Dr. Ty.
