D.D. Palmer performed the first chiropractic adjustment on Sept. 18, 1895 in Davenport, Iowa.

Known as The Discoverer and Founder of Chiropractic, D.D. held the first chiropractic classes at the Palmer School and Cure.

D.D.’s son B.J. Palmer, D.C., took over leadership of the school. B.J. is known as The Developer of Chiropractic. Mabel Heath Palmer, D.C., B.J.’s wife and a Palmer graduate, was the school’s treasurer and a faculty member. Mabel is known as The First Lady of Chiropractic.

David Daniel Palmer, D.C. (Dr. Dave), took over the school’s presidency and prepared it for full accreditation, which was achieved after his death. Dr. Dave is known as The Educator of Chiropractic.

Vickie Anne Palmer, daughter of Dr. Dave, was elected to the Palmer College Board of Trustees in 1978. Known as The Refiner of Chiropractic, Ms. Palmer served 21 years as chairperson of the Board.

Palmer College acquired Northern California College of Chiropractic, which would become today’s Palmer West in San Jose, California.

Palmer College of Chiropractic, a designated non-profit institution since 1965, achieved dual accreditation from the Council on Chiropractic Education and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

On the 100th anniversary of the profession, the Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research was established to advance health care by developing and translating knowledge that improves chiropractic. PCCR remains the largest and most highly funded chiropractic research effort in the U.S.

Palmer Florida matriculated its first class of students and broke ground on a new campus in Port Orange, Florida.

Palmer College and Gallup completed a groundbreaking four-year, nationwide study of Americans’ perceptions of chiropractic.
