Project Description
Principal Investigator: Robert Vining, D.C., D.H.Sc.
Co-Principal Investigator: Stephen Onifer, Ph.D.
Co-Investigators: Cynthia Long, Ph.D., Elissa Twist D.C., M.S., Lance Corber, MSITM
Site Location: Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research Clinic
Description:
This proof-of-concept study assessed the feasibility of using musculoskeletal ultrasound to measure connective tissue (fascia) movement in persons with chronic low back pain receiving chiropractic care. The project also examined tissue movement variability over time and under certain conditions. The long-term goals are to provide data to inform future randomized controlled and powered trials designed to
- better understand how connective tissues influence chronic low back pain; and
- guide more effective treatment approaches.
