Palmer College of Chiropractic Celebrates National Chiropractic Health Month

October is National Chiropractic Health Month, and as the first and largest chiropractic educational institution in the world, Palmer College of Chiropractic is celebrating the month with reminders about the benefits of chiropractic care.

“It’s known that low-back pain is the No. 1 cause of disability worldwide and the top reason opioids are prescribed,” said Palmer College Chancellor and CEO, Dennis Marchiori, D.C., Ph.D. “Chiropractic care plays an essential role in providing people with drug-free, surgery-free relief to pain.”

A recent study conducted by Gallup illustrates the health and cost savings benefits of incorporating chiropractic care for low-back pain. An analysis of 2 million insurance subscriber claims shows that total annual health care costs are 30-50% less with chiropractic care. Incorporating chiropractic care is forecasted to result in a 22% decrease in the number of spinal imaging tests, a 21% decrease in spinal surgeries and 19% decrease in opioid usage.

The Palmer Chiropractic Clinics are the largest network of chiropractic clinics in the country, and last year delivered care during more than 144,000 patient visits.

Palmer Chiropractic Clinics are teaching clinics and part of Palmer College, giving our patients access to a full team of faculty clinicians who incorporate the latest research and methodologies, as well as our sports and rehabilitation clinic,” said Dr. Marchiori. “Not only do our patients receive care from the founding institution of chiropractic, but also students gain real-world experience providing care to members of our community under the guidance of highly skilled and experienced faculty clinicians.”

“The chiropractic profession was founded here by D.D. Palmer in 1895,” says Dr. Marchiori. “As Doctors of Chiropractic across the country celebrate this national month, they really celebrate the health care profession that was founded right here in the Quad Cities.”

As part of National Chiropractic Health Month, Palmer Chiropractic Clinics is launching its new campaign: Chiropractic is for Every Body.

“No one should have to live in pain or rely on prescription medication to manage pain,” says Dr. Marchiori. “Chiropractic truly is for everybody and if you’re experiencing pain, we encourage you to give chiropractic care a try.”
