Behind Every Hero Stands Another Hero

Heroes and legends never hesitate when help is needed.

Dr. Andrew and Mitch Jeter family. When injuries threatened to keep his son Mitch, kicker for the Notre Dame football team, from taking the field during the 2024 season, Andrew Jeter D.C. (‘93) mobilized to ensure that his son could heal properly, and as quickly as possible. By committing to a regimen of traditional practices, they achieved their goal of returning Mitch to the field–and then exceeded all expectations to make history. Because of his father’s care, Mitch was able to kick a final-seconds field goal that sent the Irish to their first national championship since 2013! The son was a hero and his father became a legend.

“I’ve been doing this for my kids’ whole lives,” Dr. Jeter explains. “Chiropractic care started for all my children at just two hours old, and it’s something I’ve continued throughout their lives. For Mitch, it was just a natural part of his recovery routine, and I always had my portable table on hand to make sure he was taken care of.”

When Mitch injured his hip and groin during the regular season, he knew who to call first. Working together to heal Mitch’s injuries through chiropractic care, father and son had the opportunity to become a part of Notre Dame football history.

Dr. Jeter’s approach to chiropractic care has always been holistic, treating not just the spine but the extremities, with a deep understanding of how important this is for athletes, a former athlete himself. Throughout Mitch’s time at the University of South Carolina and now at Notre Dame, Dr. Jeter has provided comprehensive chiropractic care, including adjustments, cold laser treatments, stretching, and more, often while traveling to meet Mitch’s needs. This hands-on, full-body care has helped keep Mitch injury-free and performing at his best.

“It’s about helping the body heal itself,” Dr. Jeter adds. “Chiropractic doesn’t heal; it removes interference so the body can do the work it’s designed to do. When you can turn on that life force, amazing things happen.”

Dr. Jeter’s journey into chiropractic was motivated by his personal experience with injury. Having suffered a severe sprain as a freshman in high school, chiropractic care allowed him to recover fully and quickly without surgery. This experience set him on a path that eventually led him to Palmer College, where he honed his skills in spine and extremity care, primarily under the instruction of world-renowned extremity expert Mitch Mally D.C. (’81). “I knew I wanted to be a chiropractor from the moment I realized the difference it could make in my life. Our family chiropractor quickly became my mentor, and I followed in his footsteps,” he says.

“My education at Palmer was outstanding and when I look back on it, it was absolutely top-notch grade A+,” he states.

Following his graduation from Palmer College, Dr. Jeter moved back to his hometown, Charlotte, North Carolina, to establish his first practice. In 1996, he purchased a historic practice near downtown Salisbury, North Carolina from the late Hal Furr, D.C. (’73). This clinic was originally opened for chiropractic in 1949 by RL Chilcott, D.C., and has been a local institution serving the residents of Rowan County, North Carolina ever since.

“Palmer provided me with the foundation I needed to be confident in my work. The training and expertise I gained there prepared me not just to be a chiropractor, but to be a resource for families looking to improve their health,” Dr. Jeter reflects.

In response to what his keys to success have been, Dr. Jeter was resolute in his answers.

Desire and Passion
True success in chiropractic requires unwavering commitment and a deep internal drive—it’s about fully dedicating yourself to the profession and striving to help as many people as possible.

Learning the Art of Chiropractic
Mastery in chiropractic comes from embracing not only the science and philosophy but also honing the essential hand skills, as all three are integral to providing the best care.

Spiritual Purpose
Dr. Jeter believes that chiropractic is his natural gift, guided by a sense of spiritual purpose and that each person has a higher purpose in life, which aligns with his commitment to healing.

While consistent chiropractic care has been pivotal in helping Mitch Jeter maintain peak performance on the field, for Dr. Jeter, it’s not about the headlines—it’s about ensuring that his son, and every patient, is equipped with the care they need to thrive. “The reward for me is knowing that I’ve given my children and patients the best care to live healthy, pain-free lives,” Dr. Jeter concludes.
