Chancellor and CEO of Palmer College offers the 411.
The innovative future of chiropractic education is constantly unfolding at Palmer College of Chiropractic. From groundbreaking research to historic student success, the College is growing like never before.
Dennis Marchiori, D.C., Ph.D. (’90), chancellor and CEO, offers a behind-the-scenes look at the College’s exciting progress and future. Welcome to the heart of what makes Palmer truly extraordinary.
It Starts with Students
“We’re experiencing historic growth in enrollment, a true sign of our strength. For fiscal year 2023-2024, two-campus enrollment climbed by more than 25% over our three-campus enrollment during fiscal year 2019-2020. This growth speaks to the outstanding efforts of our Admissions Department and the passion of our alumni community, which continues referring amazing students to Palmer.”
The Best, Brightest, and Most Impactful Students
“We’re excited about the number of students on campus, and we’re just as excited about how these classes are shaping up. Academic preparedness among Palmer students has never been better. In recent years, the number of students coming to Palmer with a GPA greater than 3.75 has nearly doubled. With the support of generous donors, the College awards more than $4 million in scholarships to 40% of Palmer students annually.”
Shaping the Profession
“Palmer is pushing the demographics of the chiropractic profession forward. The percentage of women (44%) and non-white (33%) students at Palmer exceeds the number of women and non-white practicing chiropractors. We’re proud to be leading the chiropractic education field with a student population that reflects the patient potential in the United States population.”
Everyone on the Same Page
“The teams in Port Orange are working overtime to support students as Florida adopts the trimester calendar. Both campuses will share curricular courses, allowing dyads of faculty to collaborate and teach across cohorts with a strength of sameness. College administration is about two-thirds of the way through this transition. The result will be a more efficient and effective experience for students and faculty.”
Research, Research, Research
“The Palmer research program is a crown jewel. We reached a major milestone in 2024, completing recruitment for the $7.1 million pragmatic randomized trial studying low back pain among veterans (the VERDICT study). Collectively, it will be the largest clinical trial in chiropractic history. It will change policy and inform care in ways that would be impossible without Palmer’s Center for Chiropractic Research. Cynthia Long, Ph.D. received the McAndrews Memorial Research Fund Award from the National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance Company in 2024.”
Just the Beginning
“These exciting milestones are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to student success and the growth of the chiropractic profession. Palmer College is fresh off a historic fundraising campaign, in the midst of major campus master planning, and growing like never before. The higher education landscape is competitive, but Palmer continues to rise above the field thanks to the effort of the College’s administration, students, and alumni.”
