We asked each of our 2020 graduates on the West campus to share one word describing their Palmer College experience and something they’re looking forward to after graduation. Congratulations to our Palmer graduates Class of 153!
Antonya Forsyth
Transformation.
The great amount of growth and personal development we’ve undergone in the past three years is so tangible to me standing here now. It’s not so much that I feel that I’ve changed, but more so that all my life experiences have come together meaningfully to create this new level of being myself – one which has clear direction and unlimited potential, even with this transformed state of the world we’re entering into.
What I’m excited for in the near future is to be networking and building my practice with people whom I can help achieve their goals and dreams, in a beautiful community, back with long-time friends and family. I’m also excited to see the role of chiropractic continue to expand in public health, being one of the catalysts moving our health-care system in a positive direction.
Blair Clement
Relentless.
Throughout my time at Palmer I have continued to strive and be the best version of myself. From gaining experience in the clinic and building lasting relationships to getting married and having our first child, life has shifted for me and continues to shift in the direction I envision. Through it all, I have remained relentless to get to my next goal and execute my vision.
I’m most excited to enter this next chapter of my life as a Doctor of Chiropractic and be an example for women of color.

Testing.
Palmer tests you in multiple aspects. It tests your knowledge, your dedication, your patience, your self-efficacy, your nerves, both your sleep and caffeine tolerance. When that’s all over, you finally sit down in class to take one of your several hundred actual tests.
I am excited to be the person someone in pain seeks out help from.
I am excited to further my knowledge about healing and the body.
I am excited for the next Marvel movie.

Adapt.
Coming into this program I realized I didn’t know how to study and learn at the appropriate pace needed so I had to adapt. I had to overcome adversity when things didn’t go as planned and just keep adapting to the grind and take it day by day. Thankfully I kept a great support group and a positive attitude and helped many along the way.

Johee Hyung
同苦同樂(동고동락)
My Palmer experience can be described in one word – 同苦同樂(동고동락). It means “we stressed/suffered together and laughed/enjoyed together.” This program was the first time I ever had to depend on my colleagues to learn, practice, pass and improve myself, as well as the first time I ever had any struggles with my studies and my health. I couldn’t have endured this extended period of stress, sacrifices and endless learning without the help, encouragement, and guidance from my colleagues, mentors, friends and family.
I’m looking forward to helping more people around the world with their health and wellness and where this will lead me.

Enlightening.
Palmer was challenging in all aspects but at the end of it I came out with academic knowledge, clinical knowledge and the confidence to succeed. I had incredible mentors throughout my time at Palmer and I made sure to learn as much as I could from each of them. Those 13 quarters flew by and I can say that I am proud of all the accomplishments I was able to achieve here at Palmer. I know my learning does not stop here, but the foundation that I gained from Palmer is invaluable.
I’m excited to go out and start making a difference in people’s lives. While working in the clinic and the VA, I was able to see the impact that chiropractic can have on patients’ lives and it was really incredible to be part of that positive change. As doctors, we have a lot of power to positively help patients both mentally and physically. I have all the right tools and I’m prepared for what the world has in store for me and all my future patients.

I want to say congratulations to my class. I’ve never met so many like-minded and motivated individuals toward success. I have learned it doesn’t matter what you are doing, do it to the best of your ability. It doesn’t matter how much is on your plate, persevere to reach your goals. The No. 1 thing I learned is to enjoy the journey because the finish line is always there. Thanks for making my experience memorable.
I’m excited about being able to do something enjoyable and fulfilling. I also feel like this is a great time to become a chiropractor. Our profession is full of future potential to shape conservative care more than it already has.

Grateful.
Being able to be in a collaborative environment, working with some of the best people, and making lifelong friends. Knowing that even with the uncertainty of today, what I’ve been able to learn from my time at Palmer will help me be a great doctor and better person.

Ambitious.
Palmer West was much more than just an educational journey. Through all the tears, frustration, laughter and happiness, I have learned to be more confident in myself and my abilities. Not only did I push myself out of my comfort zone with the VA preceptorship, but it led me down a different path than I expected. That’s why I plan to apply for future residency programs and continue my education.
