For Palmer Florida alumnus, Morgan Cark, who graduated in March with research honors accolades, she says her natural curiosity has always fueled her passion to understand more. “I’ve always had a lot of questions. Participating in the research program under Dr. Prevost was a wonderful experience. It allowed me to not only learn how to answer those questions but also have access to the resources in order to complete that research and collaborate with other researchers and doctors.”
Cark is currently running her own chiropractic office in northern California, where there’s a large deficit in health care. She says she’s currently the only doctor in a three-hour radius who can supply care without patients going to the emergency room. For her, the research honors program has been a game-changer as she launches her practice, “When I’m speaking with patients I like to reference research so that there’s evidence to back up my statements. The fact that I get to back up my statements with my own research makes it even greater!”
If you’re wondering if graduating with research honors is worth it, she says, “Chiropractic needs more research to support all of the great effects that we already know it can supply. In addition, not only do you get the award and accolades but also you start to understand how to read research and how to act upon it. Research supplies so much knowledge to the profession and to other professions letting them know what we have going on in our offices!”
