Palmer’s Student American Black Chiropractic Association (SABCA) prides itself on encouraging students to build unity through diversity. From the day students arrive on campus, the club does its best to ensure their transition is aligned with encouragement and satisfaction.
“The minority demographic still is in the early stages in the chiropractic profession. Anything we can do to serve those communities is huge,” said Palmer SABCA staff adviser and admissions counselor Kelan Ritchie. “There’s a lot of promise and upside to being a young minority chiropractor.”
As a club, SABCA places an emphasis on community service by establishing relationships between its members and various local nonprofits. This also gives club members the opportunity to educate the public on chiropractic care and why students choose the profession.
“Our mission consists of seven pillars by which we conduct business and encourage membership,” said current club President Phillip Mosley. “We have summed up the collective of this missions with a phrase that benefits the masses, “Building unity through diversity.”
Palmer’s SABCA is just one of the many student chapters of the American Black Chiropractic Association across the country. And since it’s inception on campus, membership enrollment has been one of the highest out of all campus-offered clubs.
