Did you know that Palmer West has a Student American Black Chiropractic Association club? SABCA focuses on outreach to the black and brown community to bring more people of color into the chiropractic profession.
In addition, SABCA contributes to the community by going to Second Harvest Food Bank every year to volunteer their time. SABCA’s goal each quarter is to provide the students with a social activity, serve the community and encourage each other to perform well in school. The only requirement to join SABCA is to have an open heart and have passion for wanting to see more people of color within the chiropractic profession!
SABCA’s president, Blair Clement, is a 12th quarter student is on her way to becoming a woman of color with a doctor of chiropractic degree. She’s been a club leader since she arrived at Palmer West and continues to shine her light on all current students, encouraging them to be aware of the lack of color in the chiropractic profession, but “we welcome everyone to join us.”
Blair received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History at the University of California, Davis and attended Saint Mary’s College of California for her Master of Arts degree in Kinesiology with a focus in Sports Studies. Blair worked with Division l athletes at Saint Mary’s for her internship. As an undergraduate, Blair was a Division l athlete, running track and field at UC Davis, and found it very rewarding to work with athletes she could relate too.
She eventually built a close relationship with the head athletic trainer, who was a D.C. and Palmer West graduate who encouraged her to look into chiropractic and Palmer West. After visiting Palmer West, Clement knew pursuing chiropractic was a perfect fit! During her time here at Palmer West Blair has gotten married and started a family, all while working toward her goals.
Outside of school, you can find Blair traveling and spending quality time with family and friends and taking care of her 8-month-old baby boy! Congratulations.
