“There are unique opportunities opening up to chiropractors that weren’t there even a few years ago. In 2015, the NBCE Job Analysis showed that only 7% of chiropractors were working in interdisciplinary environments. Now that number is 15.2%. This is another opportunity to work with people who haven’t had access to care in the past, resulting in more awareness of the benefits of chiropractic,” says Dr. Hinkeldey.
Palmer’s Department of Defense/Veteran’s Affair’s (DoD/VA) student rotation opportunities give students the opportunity to serve our nation’s military members and veterans while gaining valuable clinical experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Vivian Ly (West, ’18) felt that Palmer prepared her for success by providing an education backed by clinical rotations and preceptorship opportunities such as the one-year VA Connecticut Residency Program.
New funding allows Palmer to join a study already underway called “Chiropractic Care for Veterans: A Pragmatic Randomized Trial Addressing Dose Effects for cLBP.”
Interns from the Palmer Chiropractic Clinics in San Jose, under the direction of clinicians Andrew Cohen, D.C., CCSP® (West ’04) and Zach Brantner, D.C. (West ’07), provided care for several dozen of the more than 100 athletes who competed.
